Subnational geographic health boundaries and metadata for Kenya.
This data was prepared by the National HIV estimates team and agreed for use in generating the country’s 2023 HIV estimates with UNAIDS. The file’s format and structure meets the requirements set by the subnational HIV estimates tool Naomi. The data has been approved for use in the estimates by the country’s Ministry for Health.
The original GeoJSON data is hierarchical in structure, with nested boundaries for each admin level. Tabular metadata is also incorporated into the Geojson file, which can be downloaded from this site in CSV format. The data dictionary detailing each field in this tabular data is also available from the resource page.
New HIV estimates are prepared by the country each year, and so it is expected that the data will be updated on an annual basis, following the estimates publication to AIDSInfo.
NOTE: Some further work should take place to tidy up the boundary lines between countries. UNAIDS are aware of some small discrepencies in national and subnational boundary lines between datasets.
